Add Gaffer to your home screen
iPhone
- Open Gaffer in Safari.
- Tap the Share button.
- Tap Add to Home Screen, then Add.
Android
- Open Gaffer in Chrome.
- Tap the menu (the three dots).
- Tap Install app or Add to Home screen.
Calendar links for fixtures only work in the installed app. In the browser, import a calendar file instead.
Back up and restore
Your team's data lives on your phone, so a backup file is your safety net. Save one now and then, and always before you clear your browser data or change phones.
- Open Gaffer and go to the Home tab.
- Tap Save Backup. The file is named like gaffer-backup- followed by a date. Check your Downloads folder or the Files app.
- To restore, tap Restore Backup and choose the file. The app checks the file before it replaces anything.
A backup made with a newer version of Gaffer needs the app updated first. If a backup is damaged, the app says so and changes nothing.
Using it without a signal
Open Gaffer once with a signal. After that first load it keeps working offline, so you can use it on the touchline.
What to expect from the beta
- Push to speak is beta. It is off until you switch it on in Settings. It relies on your phone's speech recognition, so check what it logged before you rely on it.
- High School Clock Mode is approximate. It is a helper, not an official clock. You can take over at any time.
- One phone at a time. Your data is on the phone you use. Sharing a team with an assistant coach is not available yet.
Common questions
Where is my data?
On your phone, in your browser's storage. If you clear Gaffer's website data without a backup, it is gone and we cannot get it back.
Is Gaffer in the App Store or Google Play?
Not yet. Store versions are planned and we have no date.
Does it cost anything?
Right now the app is in a closed beta. Pricing to come soon.
